GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP.
    Greenwood was formed in 1830.  It lies on the southern border of the county and contains 19,387 acres, and is bounded on the north by Conneaut outlet and Conneaut marsh.  It is well watered.  The first settlement was made in 1794.  Samuel Anderson came in 1796, and settled in the central part of the township.  Richard Custer came in 1797.  In the following year John Michael came, and in 1799 erected the first saw and grist mill.  The population in 1870 was 1,782.  It contains twelve schools, with an attendance of 277 pupils, at an annual expense of about $2,000.
